We have great news to share!
The CO Department of Education assigns a School Performance rating to schools every year based on the previous year’s CMAS data. Some of the factors this rating is based on are student achievement and student growth in core content areas. CDE has not released a rating since 2019 due to the suspension of CMAS testing during COVID-19.
CILA had last received an Improvement rating in 2019. This week, we were notified that our rating for 2022 has been increased to Performance! This is an amazing accomplishment, especially considering the many obstacles to learning and growth we have faced during the pandemic. I am incredibly proud of our community, especially our students and staff who have worked so hard and persevered. Their hard work has paid off. CILA will continue to provide high-quality instruction and to strive to improve our practices.

Heating up home lunch
With the end of the federally funded free lunch program, we have seen an increase of students bringing lunch from home. While we do have a couple of microwaves to reheat leftovers (2-3 minutes), there is often not enough time to heat up/cook anything that takes more than 5 minutes (e.g., Ramen, other instant meals, etc.). Students only have 30 minutes for lunch and the line for the microwaves can inevitably get very long. Please be mindful of that when choosing a lunch for your student.
A Reminder from our PE teacher
If your student wears a skirt or dress to school, please consider having them wear shorts underneath. We are very active during PE and want to make sure our students are comfortable and appropriate in their uniforms.
Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
D11 is not offering free breakfast and lunch for all students again this year. Students will have to pay for breakfast and lunches, including bottled water and milk.
Please remember to apply for Free and Reduced Lunch. Our Free and Reduced Lunch numbers determine funding and help us provide important programs and support for our families in need. Free and Reduced Lunch eligibility will also qualify your student for scholarships or reduced prices for many sports programs, etc. outside of school. Free and Reduced Lunch eligible students. are waived from paying bus or materials fees at CILA. Please reach out to us if you need help completing the application!
PTO Fun Run
Thank you to everyone that has signed up to help with our FUN RUN! It will be fun and fabulous! We do still need water donations and parents to assist in the morning. Our General Meeting is 9/13/22 at 5:30pm! Should run about 1-1.5 hours. Link for remote attendance below. Small children are welcome, we will have free adult supervision available. FUN RUN and the mandatory 30 hours will be discussed at length. See you there at the Student Center (lunchroom/music room) or ONLINE!

El Departamento de Educación de CO asigna una calificación de rendimiento escolar a las escuelas todos los años en función de los datos CMAS del año anterior. Algunos de los factores en los que se basa esta calificación son el rendimiento estudiantil y el crecimiento estudiantil en las áreas de contenido básico. CDE no ha publicado una calificación desde 2019 debido a la suspensión de las pruebas CMAS durante COVID-19.
CILA había recibido una calificación de mejora por última vez en 2019. ¡Esta semana, se nos notificó que nuestra calificación para 2022 se incrementó a Desempeño! Este es un logro asombroso, especialmente considerando los muchos obstáculos para el aprendizaje y el crecimiento que hemos enfrentado durante la pandemia. Estoy increíblemente orgulloso de nuestra comunidad, especialmente de nuestros estudiantes y personal que han trabajado tan duro y perseverado. Su arduo trabajo ha valido la pena. CILA continuará brindando instrucción de alta calidad y esforzándose por mejorar nuestras prácticas.

Calentando el almuerzo en casa
Con el final del programa de almuerzo gratis financiado por el gobierno federal, hemos visto un aumento de estudiantes que traen el almuerzo de casa. Si bien tenemos un par de microondas para recalentar las sobras (2-3 minutos), a menudo no hay tiempo suficiente para calentar/cocinar nada que tarde más de 5 minutos (p. ej., Ramen, otras comidas instantáneas, etc.). Los estudiantes solo tienen 30 minutos para almorzar y la fila para el microondas inevitablemente puede volverse muy larga. Tenga esto en cuenta al elegir un almuerzo para su estudiante.
